Oklahoma City, OK, March 10, 2009 - Orthocare Innovations, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL) researcher Lonnie Love, Ph.D. to its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Love serves as Robotics and Energetic Systems Distinguished Research Scientist at ORNL. His research focuses on design, control and application of novel mechatronic and actuation systems, with an emphasis on mesofluidic and electrohydraulic systems, fluid driven prosthetic devices, exoskeleton systems and miniaturization of hydraulic components.
'Orthocare values its relationship with Lonnie Love and his team at Oak Ridge,' commented Orthocare's Chief Executive Officer, Doug McCormack. 'There is a tremendous commitment to successfully transitioning technologies from the lab into clinical applications. While in the past this may have proven to be an elusive goal, Lonnie is making it a reality with his practical approach to technology development and his drive to enhance human performance.'
'I have enjoyed my close collaboration with Orthocare and am pleased to serve in a more official role as a member of the Medical and Scientific Board of Advisors,' commented Dr. Love. 'Orthocare is a dynamic company with the technical skills to work side-by-side with the researchers at Oak Ridge, while also possessing the savvy to navigate the Lab successfully to build strong partnerships. Orthocare's ability to bring real world problems to the ORNL research community was instrumental in helping me obtain internal research funding to develop new technologies that will ultimately reach patients and improve patient care.'
Dr. Love received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1995 and joined ORNL later that year. Dr. Love is a widely published author on topics related to robotics and actuation systems and is a 2006 R&D 100 award winner.
